Be boring: It’s the only way to get work done

This chapter talks about routines and habits that will serve us well on our journey to achieving our goals. The secret is in our daily routine. Slow and steady wins the race.

From the daily routine of self-care to keeping our finances under control to keeping our day job, having a calendar and logbook to choosing our partners carefully.

The success we see outside comes from the boring routine we maintain behind the scenes. It is better to focus on consistent input than being obsessed with results or output.

Getting the desired result is very exciting, but if you focus on the results, you may get distracted from putting in the desired input, especially when the results don’t come in the magnitude and timing expected.

That negative feedback (thinking that it is not working) can demotivate us, causing us to take our feet off the pedal as it doesn’t seem to be working.

If you focus on the input and get to enjoy putting in the work, the results will start to show with time. Focusing on the output is a distraction. Stick with the boring routine of putting one step in front of the other, keep stepping, keep reading, keep growing, keep honing your skills, keep getting better, and before you know it, you get the work done and the results will be more than worth it.
